I am a National Board Certified teacher and certified Early Childhood Kindergarten through Third Grade and Kodaly Certified. After 30 years of teaching elementary music in OK and NM, I have retired from public school teaching and working as an adjunct instructor in Music Ed at OCU.  I consider myself a lifelong learner and I believe music is imperative for young children. Music feeds my soul, and I have seen it transform children. I believed in my mission as a music educator, and I will always believe music can transform lives. I believe in the power of music!

Mattie Davis

Piano
Mattie graduated with a degree from Texas A&M University in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education and a minor in music (Piano and vocal). Being raise in a home where music ed was emphasized, helped pave the way for Mattie’s musical background and educational interests. A lot of Mattie’s time growing up was spent playing piano, singing in a family ensemble and performing at various churches, civic clubs, and other venues. Because she was able to attend music trainings and music schools early on in life it made it possible for Mattie to begin teaching piano and voice as a teenager. Recently Mattie has retired from a career of teaching in public and private schools, a total of 33 years! No matter what subject or grade level taught music was always included in her classroom.
