“The Commands of Christ: Do Not Worry” - David Skinner

  Matthew 6:25-34

1. Worry - Give way to anxiety or unease; allow one’s mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles

2. Anxiety - A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome

3. “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.”

- Charles H. Spurgeon

4. Is it a sin to worry?

Worry that keeps us from obediently following God and His word is sin.

Worry that leads to distrust in God is sin.

5. Trust in God’s Provision

Worry diminishes our faith in God’s ability to sustain us.

6. Prioritize God’s Kingdom

Worry often arises when worldly concerns take priority over eternal pursuits, but focusing on God realigns our perspective.

7. Rest in God’s Sovereignty

Worry stems from trying to control the uncontrollable, but surrendering to God’s timing brings peace.

“The main point of all this is clear and unmistakable. Jesus does not want His followers to be anxious. He does not secure HIs kingdom by keeping His subjects in a state of worry. On the contrary, according to Matthew 6:33, the more primary and central His kingship becomes in our lives, the less anxiety we will have.”
