“Greatest Understanding, Greatest Control” - Dr. Doug Melton

 2 Corinthians 5:11-15

Understanding the fear of the Lord, we persuade others to know the One who knows their heart and to live for Him who died for them.

1. One of the greatest things you can know —

the fear of the Lord.

 A healthy fear of the Lord …

 understands that God will call to account;

 “In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek Him; all his thoughts are, ‘There is no God.’ “

 “He says in his heart, ‘God has forgotten, He has hidden His face, He will never see it.’ “

 Psalm 10:4, 11

 knows that my actions do carry consequences;

 means not being afraid of others.

 “We fear men so much because we fear God so little.“

2. One of the greatest things you should understand about what God knows —

God knows my heart.

3. The greatest control you can have in life —

the love of Christ.

 He died for me.

 He frees me from the prison of no longer living for myself, but for Him who for my sake died and was raised.
