1. What Herod got right

  • Herod knew there can only be one king.

   “It is safer to be Herod’s (hus) than Herod’s (huios).“

   “It is safer to be Herod’s pig than Herod’s son.“

  • Herod went to great lengths to find out about Jesus.

   “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.“

2. What we learn from the wise men

  • The Gospel is for all people.

  • They recognized the worth of Christ.

  • They obeyed God rather than man.
