“Freely Given, Freely Give” - Dr. Doug Melton

  2 Corinthians 9:1-15

Central truth - Because Christ has freely given, we freely give.

1. Because Christ has freely given, we give willingly not reluctantly.

2. Because Christ has freely given, we give bountifully not sparingly.

  Why do we give sparingly?

  We believe that God is able, but we fear that God won’t.

  We would rather have earthly comforts than spiritual contentment.

  We operate under the philosophy that the more you keep for yourself, the more you have.

3. Because Christ has freely given, we give cheerfully not begrudgingly.
