“Holy — The Son of God” - Dr. Doug Melton

Luke 1:26-35

1. “Holy” — Helps us understand the distance between us and Jesus.

2. “The Son of God” — What God did to bridge that distance.

  • He gave us the only beginning point.

  “And because of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.“

1 Corinthians 1:30–31

  • Then God calls us to be who we are.

  “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.“

1 Peter 1:14-16

  • Holiness is the end result.

  “Beloved, we are God‘s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.“
