“Comfort, Redefined” - Dr. Doug Melton

  2 Corinthians 1:3-7

1. The comfort of God will always exceed the sufferings of this world.

2. Recognize the need for biblical understanding of affliction and comfort.

3. Live in the promise of comfort.

  What God does is comfort, not make us comfortable.

4. Remember the purpose of comfort.

  We are not comforted to be comfortable; we are comforted to be vessels of God’s comfort to others.

You don’t have to have gone through the suffering that person is going through — God has.

Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,

hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure!

Here speaks the Comforter, in mercy saying,

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure.
