Praise Yahweh
Praise the Lord
1. We are commanded to praise God.
“This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations, as a statute forever, you shall keep it as a feast.“
Exodus 12:14
2. There also is a can’t-help-it aspect to praising the Lord.
A. Starting now and forevermore
“After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, ‘Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, …’ “
Revelation 19:1
“Once more they cried out, ‘Hallelujah!’ “
Revelation 19:3a
“And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God who was seated on the throne, saying, ‘Amen. Hallelujah!’ “
Revelation 19:4
“Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, ‘Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.’ “
Revelation 19:6
B. We praise in advance of the day.
C. Doesn’t mean it’s not difficult.
3. What does this praise look like?
“Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance?”
Micah 7:18a
“To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with Him?”
Isaiah 40:18
“To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One.“
Isaiah 40:25
