“Full Disclosure” - Dr. Doug Melton

  Luke 6:21

1. Jesus describes the life of a true disciple AND the life of true happiness.

“And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days.“

  Luke 4:1–2

“But now even more the report about Him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear Him and to be healed of their infirmities. But He would withdraw to desolate places and pray.”

  Luke 5:15–16

“In these days He went out to the mountain to pray, and all night He continued in prayer to God.”

  Luke 6:12

“Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated — of whom the world was not worthy — wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.“

  Hebrews 11:35–38

2. As far as God wants to take you toward a blessing, Satan wants to take you in the opposite direction toward a curse.

3. Long-term happiness is far greater than a momentary pleasure.

4. Hardships now are just for now; that’s not your future.

“And He said to them, ‘Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.“

  Luke 18:29-30

“We will only truly enjoy life now if we have settled the issue of what life will be then; the way to learn to live is to settle the issue of how to die and what lies beyond.“
